RC-380h Trivalent Chromium Blue-White Passivator

INTRODUCTION

  • It can produce a uniform and blue passive film on an acid or alkaline zinc coating. The stock solution does not contain hexavalent chromium, which meets the requirements of environmental protection.

  • Excellent corrosion resistance.

EQUIPMENT

Tank: steel tank with rubber lining or polyethylene/polypropylene, PVC/polyester. Do not set trivalent chromium passivation tank after the general passivation tank to prevent hexavalent chromium contamination.

Temperature control: required, PTFE heating tube and heat exchanger are recommended.

Agitation: uniform and mild air agitation.

Filtration: required.

Ventilation: required.

  • It meets the requirement of high anti-corrosion.

  • Copper and lead metal contamination should be avoided.

  • In general, the consumption of this product is 10-15 ml/m2.

  • Due to the higher drag-outs, the consumption should be increased to 20-30 ml/m2 for barrel plating.


MATTTERS NEEDING ATTENTION

It is recommended that 0.3% nitric acid should be used for bright dipping before workpiece passivation, then triple rinsing after passivation.


ANALYSIS OF TRIVALENT CHROMIUM

1. Pipette 5 ml sample into an Erlenmeyer flask.

2. Add 10 ml 5 mol/l sodium hydroxide.

3. Add 20 ml of hydrogen peroxide, then add anti-bumping granules and the Erlenmeyer flask needs to be covered by the filter funnel.

4. Heat to boiling then keep it for 30 minutes, hydrogen must be completely removed.

5. Cool the solution to room temperature.

6. Add 20 ml 2.5 mol/l sulphuric acid.

7. Add 1 g of potassium iodide and mix evenly. Put the solution in the dark for 3-5 minutes, and add a 1 ml starch solution.

8. Titration with 0.1 mol/l sodium thiosulfate standard solution until blue disappears end point.

Calculation: trivalent chromium content (g/l) = 0.1 mol/l sodium thiosulfate titration ml x 0.346
