INTRODUCTION
It provides a uniform and dense surface of substrate for subsequent electroplating and obtain a good coating adhesion.
Very little NOx emission during procedure, which is good for environmental protection.
Suitable for the aluminum alloy with high silicon content (such as A356, etc.).
It is not recommended for aluminum alloys with copper content greater than 1% (e.g., 2000 and 7000 series aluminum alloys, some 4000 series wrought aluminum) and 380 cast aluminum.
SOLUTION MAINTENANCE
The acidity of the solution (equivalent concentration) should be controlled at 10.5-12.5, with an optimum of 11.5, which can be replenished in the following proportions.

MATTERS NEEDING ATTENTION
The temperature should not exceed 40℃.
Do not drop metal parts into the solution or place them in the solution for a long time.
A sufficient ventilation system is required.
For example, if the silicon levels in aluminum alloy is more than 5%, ammonium hydrogen fluoride, fluoroboric acid or hydrofluoric acid with an appropriate amount can be added into the solution (the amount of addition preferably determined by a small test).
TITRATION OF ACIDITY
1. Pipette 1 ml of descaling solution into a 250 ml conical flask.
2. Add 50 ml of pure water then mix well.
3. Add 7-10 drops of methyl orange indicator to the conical flask, titrate with 1N NaOH standard solution to yellow end point, record the consumption volume as ‘ V ’.
Acidity value = V × standard solution concentration of NaOH
