RC-CU200 Cyanide-free Alkaline for Copper Plating

INTRODUCTION

RC-CU200 is a new cyanide-free copper plating process developed by our company by introducing foreign technology.

  • It is free of sodium cyanide, and is suitable for plating on the steel, brass, aluminum alloy and zinc alloy directly with a strong adhesion.

  • The solution is stable and has a long life.

  • The solution has strong activity, high cathodic polarization potential, coating can be thickened, high brightness and no brittleness.

  • Simple wastewater disposal process, organic can be removed by adding precipitant to meet the discharge standard.

SOLUTION CONTROL AND MAINTENANCE

  • RC-CU200A electroplating concentrate provides copper for the solution. During electroplating, the deposited copper is replenished by anodic erosion, and various complex components is replenished by adding RC-CU200B. RC-CU200A is usually added only when the new tank or solution function is depleted. The copper content should be kept at 8~9g/l for rack plating , and 6~8 g/l for barrel plating. Therefore, due to the drag out of the bath and loss of electrolysis, it can be replenished according to chemical analysis. 1 g/l of copper is equivalent to 44 ml/l of the RC-CU200A. (A400, B100)

  • RC-CU200B comprises various complex components, which can be added due to the drag out of the bath and loss of electrolysis, poor adhesion may result from the serious lack of RC-CU200B, there is no adverse effect even though a slight excess of RC-CU200B. RC-CU200B contains a strong acidic substance, so be careful when adding, and RC-CU200C (3-4):1 should be added before adding RC-CU200B. The consumption of RC-CU200B is about 150-200 ml/KAH, which can also be added according to Hull Cell tests.

  • The pH of the bath should be controlled at 9.0-10, no less than 9 in case of a poor adhesion, raise pH with potassium carbonate, reduce pH with RC-CU200B.

  • In case anode slime and copper powder contaminate the bath, HCOF copper anodes, nylon anode bags are recommended, continuous filtration is also recommended.

  • Poor coating appearance, fogs, rough layer and dark red color which may result from the contamination of CN-, iron, copper, nickel, chromium and other metal ions, so it should be strictly prevented.


ANALYSIS OF COPPER

1) Pipette a 5 ml sample into a 250 ml Erlenmeyer flask, add 25 ml water and shake well.

2) Add 3 g ammonium persulfate, swirl a few times, add 10 ml ammonium hydroxide (1:1) then solution will be a clear, and deep blue, add 60 ml water.

3) Add 5-6 drops PAN indicator, solution should be purple or pale red in color.

4) Titration with 0.05M EDTA solution to yellow-green end point.

Calculation: Cu/g·(1/L) = 0.635 x V
