It is suitable for the electroplating of steels, zinc die casts and plastic, as a economical bright middle layer after essential pre-treatment.
EQUIPMENT
Tank: polyethylene lined steel, other types of plastic lined steel or plastic.
Cooling system: required, the consumption of brightener will decrease and the brightness of LCD areas will decrease that occurs at high temperature of the bath.
Filtration: the suspend solids such as dust and grease in solution will cause rough coating, pinhole or reduce brightness; continuous filtration is strongly recommended, and the filter pump should be able to filter the plating solution at least four times every hour.
ROLE OF ADDITIVES AND REPLENISHMENT
Make-up 810C: ‘treeing’ at both HCD and MCD areas may result from lack of the make-up 810C; ‘fogs’ at LCD areas may result from excessive make-up 810C.
Brightener 810A: the coating levelling in the whole current density area decreases when low content of 810A. And poor levelling or ‘step’ occur at LCD areas is caused by an excess of 810A.
Brightener 810B: when 810B content is insufficient, the coating is easy to burn; and excessive 810B causes ‘fogs’ in LCD areas.
Chloride ion: A dense, bright and smooth coatings could be plated by the right amount of chloride ion. A low content of chloride ion leads to ‘treeing’ at HCD and MCD areas, as well as ‘fogs’ at LCD ares; a high chloride ion content, the brightness and levelling of the coating will be significantly reduced, the anode surface shows a grayish white film and causes passivation.
CONSUMPTION OF ADDITIVES
Make-up 810C: 30-40 ml/1,000A.H
Brightener 810A: 60-80 ml/1,000 A.H
Brightener 810B: 30-40 ml/ 1,000A.H
