INTRODUCTION
RC-BD2 does not contain nitric acid, which is used to remove the first zinc coating in twice of the zincate processes.
DETERMINATION OF DEZINCING AGENT
--Reagent
0.1N ferrous ammonium acid
25% (v/v) acid
0.1N potassium permanganate
--Steps
1. Pipette a 1.0 ml of solution into a conical flask.
2. Add 50 ml of pure water.
3. Add 20 ml of 0.1N ferrous ammonium acid and standing for 30 seconds.
4. Add 5 ml 25% (v/v) acid.
5. Titrate with 0.1N potassium permanganate to a purple end point.
6. Record titration milliliter number as ‘ X ’.
7. Repeat the steps above, but replace 1.0 ml of solution with 5 ml of pure water then record titration milliliter as ‘ Y ’.

DETERMINATION OF SULPHURIC ACID
--Reagent
1.0N sodium hydroxide
0.1% methyl orange indicator
--Steps
1. Pipette a 5 ml BD2 solution into a Erlenmeyer flask.
2. Add 75 ml of pure water.
3. Add 5 drops of methyl orange indicator.
4. Titrate with 1.0N sodium hydroxide to a light yellow/light green end point.
Sulfuric acid content (volume percentage) = 3.44 × titration milliliters ÷ 5 ml
Note: it is suggested that redo make-up when the zinc content of the solution exceeds 2.25 g/l.
